Presentation

The Abbaye de Montmajour, classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1968, managed by the Centre des Monuments Nationaux (CMN), and owned by the State, was from October 2018 to June 2021 support of a workcamp of integration and professional training ACTA VISTA. This workcamp was born from a desire to restore a part of this historical monument that is deteriorating, including a strong social and territorial approach. A team of 16 job seekers from the Arles area was trained and accompanied towards employment.

Workcamps and works

Various restoration actions have been carried out at the Abbaye de Montmajour:

  • Stone cutting and reshaping of the stone walls;
  • Restitution of lime coatings and finishing work;
  • Restoration of the walls of the Saint-Pierre Hermitage, the stables and the Saint Maur Cistern.
  • Restoration of the retaining walls of the Saint Maur terrace and the Ladies’ Parlour;
  • Consolidation and restoration of the wall of the restanques
