Presentation

The Conservatoire du Littoral, owner of the building since 2005, has made it available to the association ACTA VISTA until 2031 in order to carry out a workcamp for the integration and training of local people in difficulty. The Batterie du Lequin is located in the heart of the National Park of Port Cros, a partner in the project, which ensures a mission of protection of species, environments, landscapes and cultural heritage.

The Batterie du Lequin is part of the fortification system of the Hyères islands designed by Napoleon to face the British naval threat. Its function was to defend the roadstead of Porquerolles as well as the access to the port by crossing its shots with the battery of Bon Renaud. The battery was decommissioned and lost its military role at the end of the 19th century.
